Before you hit the road

What will the trip cost?

A little planning goes a long way.
Enter your electricity price, efficiency and distance, or find a route below.

Your charge & distance

Adjust the example values to match your car and charging tariff.

Use dollars or pounds, not cents or pence: 0.30 means 30 cents or pence.

For example, $, £ or €

Energy used by the car, in kWh / 100 km.

Enter a distance, or find a route below.

A return trip doubles the entered distance.

90% means 10% of purchased energy is lost. Use 100% if losses are already included in your consumption.

Driving

Enter two places, or click the map to choose your start and destination.

First map click sets the start point. The second sets your destination.

When a route is found, its distance is added to your estimate above.

How the estimate is calculated
Units are converted to km and kWh per 100 km first. Driving energy = distance in km × kWh per 100 km ÷ 100. Energy purchased = driving energy ÷ (charging efficiency ÷ 100). Trip cost = energy purchased × electricity price per kWh. A return trip doubles the distance.
